We are excited to reveal our latest fundraising activity in aid of our charity partner JDRF UK…Challenge 1200 for Liam!
FRÍO’s Business Development Manager Chris Groves, will be cycling 1200 miles from Santander in Spain to the FRÍO headquarters in Wolfscastle West Wales in memory of Liam Snailham, a type 1 diabetic who sadly passed away seven years ago and would have been 30 this year.
Liam was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 9 and instead of letting it get the better of him, he embraced his diagnosis and lived life to the full. Liam loved music, DJing, spending time with his friends and designing websites – IT was his passion. It was this passion that led him to study Computing Technology at Plymouth University where he also took up sailing and joined the university’s team. After leaving University Liam started his career at Orange/EE.
Tragically in March 2010, Liam passed away from ‘Dead in Bed’ syndrome which is a complication of type 1 diabetes. Determined to keep Liam’s memory alive, Chris a very close friend of Liam’s family, will be cycling alongside Andy House, a close friend of Liam, to raise money for JDRF UK, the UK’s leading diabetes research charity. The challenge will take place over 30 days starting on the 11th April and ending on the 10th May.
We aim to raise a total of £10,000 through this challenge so if you would like to donate, please do so through our JustGiving page.
